Revlon Eye Shadow Quad in Delightful Swatches and Review

A few weeks ago, Rite-Aid had REVLON for 40% off!  I went in search of some of their new products but when my store was sold out, I decided to try this eye shadow quad.   This was my first eye shadow purchase from REVLON, and I have to say that I am really impressed with the quality.

Quad in Delightful

Delightful Swatches

All of the colors applied evenly and smooth.  My only issue was with the gold because there was a little fall out and the color was not very pigmented.  But tapping my brush before application took care of that.  The shadows are a little powdery, but for a drug store product I thought the color payoff for all the colors, with the exception of the gold, were great.  When I wore this quad I did use an eye shadow primer which helped the colors show brighter.

I really enjoyed using this quad.  It gives me a light and airy look, which I found perfect this summer.

Have you tried any of the new Revlon eye shadow quads?

New Found Love For An Old Favorite: MAC Teddy

MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy

I have been using MAC for so many years.  On one of my very first trips to the MAC counter, I was sold the Teddy eye kohl.  This was part of my everyday makeup routine, until I became practically dependent on using liquid liners.

The other day I decided I needed to go through some of my makeup that I had not used in a while and show it some love.  I am so glad I did.  I have fallen in love with Teddy all over again!!

It is a gorgeous dark brown with copper flecks in it!

Is Teddy in your makeup bag?  Have you started using any old favorites again lately?

Stay Beautiful!

MAC Cut A Caper

At First Was A Miss, But Now It's A Hit!

I had been waiting for this lipstick to be re-released from MAC and ordered it the second it went online.  I was actually disappointed with it at first and put it in a drawer until now.  I really believed that this was a bust product for me and I was crushed because I was in love with it's color.  That's why I had to write this post today.

I decided to give it another try but using it up underneath a lip gloss this time.  Before I could even get the lipgloss on, I realized a difference in the lipstick.  I had thought it was drying at first, but now it seems to be creamy and leave a slight glossy finish.  I am now thinking it was just my lips recovering from my dehydration after delivering my son.

I like to try a product a few times before I write a negative thing about it and I am so glad I did. I will be grabbing for this for the remainder of August and September and possibly layering it for a fall look.

Cut A Caper has a Lustre finish and was repromoted with MAC's Heavenly Creature Collection.  It is still available on the Nordstrom website.

Do you have a product that was a bust before it was a lust?  Sorry about the cheesy lines.  Just love it!

The Wait Is Over: MAC Moth Brown

MAC By Request: Moth Brown

L to R: blended swatch, heavy swatch

This was delivered today and in less than a minute I was in love. This color is amazing! It appears to be a dark grey with some shimmer but it has some purple tones in it and you can see them when the light hits it just right.

I am so excited that I finally own this color.  I've been hearing about it for a while and was thrilled when I found out that it was voted in the top 3 for the MAC By Request collection.

As of today this color is still available.  Check it out for yourself on the MAC website.

Did you pick up any of the fan favorites from this collection?

Fall Nail Polish Haul

I'm going to say this is part 1 since I know I will be buying more by the time fall officially arrives.

I ordered the Zoya polishes from Zoya.com and my sister picked up the OPI polishes for me at a professional salon supply store, but I'm sure they are available at Ulta.

Click here to create new zoya account and get a free polish of your choice!

Look for swatches in upcoming NOTW posts!

What colors have you picked up for fall?

Birchbox August 2012

Overall I was not impressed with this month's box.  But every subscription box can have an off month and some months are just better than others.

Here is what I received this month:

  • 2 packets of Caldrea Hand Soap
  • 1 Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Fleur perfume sample
  • 1 WEI Golden Root purifying mud mask
  • 1 WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads
  • 1 Yu-Be Moisturizing Cream ( I will probably not use this because the packaging freaks me out.
  • 1 Stila sample card of HD Beauty Balm, foundation, and concealer (not pictured)
  • 1 Schick Razor

Without trying the products, I would have to say the highlight of this box is the razor.  While I hate receiving perfume samples that I can get on my own from any fragrance counter, this Juicy sample has turned me on to a new fragrance that I will more than likely be purchasing.

You can get your monthly box of surprise samples at Birchbox.com

If you receive Birchbox let me know if you got something different.

No Longer Subscribed To Beauty Army

After 3 months of becoming completely unsatisfied with the sample selection chosen for me, I have finally canceled my subscription to Beauty Army.

My first month I was very pleased with the service but in my opinion the sample selection since then has gone down hill.  I logged in everyday during my selection window and no matter how many times I changed my profile, I always had the same samples to choose from.  I tried to wait it out because I really enjoyed the service but it was time to cut it loose and move on to something else.

What beauty subscription boxes do you get?

3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag.

How Do You Pick From Limited Edition Collections?

With so many limited edition collections and products being released and the holiday collections on the horizon, how do you choose?

Here are a few things I look for and consider when buying from any LE collection.

Because shades and color choices can sometimes be redundant among different brands, I usually look for colors that are unique to the brand and unique in general.  I look for colors and products that I can incorporate into my every day routine.  I also take texture and application into consideration. If the product doesn't perform well, it is not worth buying just because it's LE.

I don't purchase too many colors that are outside my comfort zone, but I will jump on the perfect shade that I may only wear once in a while, i.e. MAC Red Racer.

Limited edition packaging, while it can be gimmicky, tends to draw my eye in every time and my purse follows.

What do you look for in LE collections?

MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW NAIL LACQUER IN STYLED OUT

Nails Of The Week

Indoors

Natural light

I recently had to toss some of my old makeup and nail polishes.  Among the nail polishes that were thrown away was Chanel's Blue Satin, a long time favorite of mine.  Blue is my favorite color and I was planning on repurchasing it but the $26 price point had me a bit gun shy.  I stumbled upon this color during a recent Walmart trip and had to pick it up.  It cost less than $3 for .23 fl oz, which is less than a normal bottle of polish which is .5 fl oz.  But I think in price to fl. oz. comparison it evens out.

This color is beautiful! It is super shiny going on but it does loose some of it's luster after it dries.  But you can use a top coat to fix that.  It dried really quick.  I did apply 2 coats but I could have gone with one thick coat.  With just one coat you could see streaks when I held my nails up to the light but otherwise it looked completely opaque.

This is a different color from Chanel's Blue Satin.  Styled Out is slightly lighter in color, has silver shimmer in it, and does not have as shiny of a finish.

I have decided to put my Chanel purchase on hold for now.  I love Styled Out! It reminds me of a dark denim jean and I'm excited to wear it a lot during the fall.

If you love blue polish, I would definitely pick this one up if you see it.

This is gets 5 stars from me!

Have you tried any Maybelline Color Show polishes?

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold

When I was out last week, I randomly picked this up.  I had been looking at it for a while, because I love the color tattoo in Bad to the Bronze so much.

This applies smoothly and it has great pigmentation. I have been wearing it on it's own and also with my Urban Decay Naked palette. This is definitely a yellowish gold, but I think that makes it perfect for summer.

How many Maybelline Color Tattoos do you have?
