Blog Changes Coming Soon

I have finally decided to buy a domain name for the blog. =) I am very excited about this!!

I am trying to get Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and my blog to match or at least be close enough.  =)  So, I may have to change the blog name.  I just wanted to let everyone know.  I will do a blog post prior to changing the name so you guys are aware of what the new name is, if there is one.

I've been told that Kristen's Beauty Addiction is too long of a name. So I am not sure at this moment what I will do in regards to that.  These changes will be happening over the next few days.

I appreciate your patience as these changes take place!

Thank you Lovelies!!

Sonia Kashuk Blush In Pink Swatch and Review

As I am building my collection of blushes, I have started to look towards drug stores, Target, and Walmart more often to find better deals.  This is my second "drug store" blush and my second from Sonia Kashuk.  HERE  is my post on Sonia Kashuk blush in Sunset.

This blush is available at Target and retails for $8.99.  It is a very pretty shade and gives you the perfect pink cheek.  It is buildable, but even sheer it is a pretty, light wash of color.  I did not find the formula to be chalky or too powdery.  Overall I am pleased with my purchase and I will continue to try products from this brand.

What is your favorite drug store blush?

Mini Maybelline Haul

I went out looking for the Dream Lumi Concealer and I picked up a few extra things.  I have had my eye on the Color Tattoo in Bold Gold for a while and picked it up since I love Bad to the Bronze so much.  The eye quad was limited edition and there was only one left so I grabbed that. I picked up the nail polish on an impulse, but I'm glad I did.

I will be posting reviews and swatches soon!

tarte QVC Kit

What Has Your Makeup Done For You Lately

Let me start by saying I adore the packaging.  The box is hard and has a magnetic closure, which makes it perfect for reusing it.  I filled mine with eye shadow palettes.

This is what is included in your kit:

  • 1-fl-oz Maracuja Miracle 12-hour Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in choice of fair, light, medium, tan, and deep
  • 0.60-fl-oz 100% pure Maracuja Oil rollerball--exclusive to QVC until 1/31/13
  • 0.10-oz LipSurgence Lip Shine in smitten soft pink with built-in sharpener--exclusive to QVC until 1/31/13
  • 0.24-fl-oz Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara in black
  • modernEYES waterproof creaseless shadow/liner duo in plumberry (pinkish plum) 0.017-oz/plum brown (deep purple brown) 0.005-oz--exclusive to QVC until 1/31/13
  • Retoucher bamboo foundation brush

Swatches:  The LipSurgence was melted when I got it so I'm not exactly sure how creamy it is supposed to be but QVC's amazing customer service took care of it right away.

Modern Eyes Creaseless Shadow and Liner

LipSurgence Lip Shine in Smitten

 LipSurgence in Smitten Applied

I am loving this kit! The colors are beautiful and the Maracuja Oil rollerball feels amazing on my skin.  I will be posting a full foundation review in a few days after I have had time to fully test it out.

This kit retails for $59.00 on QVC and it's an amazing deal! Three of the products are exclusive to QVC and you'll be the first to try it! You can purchase your kit HERE.

These aren't the best swatches but I wanted to give you a general idea of the color outside of the bottle.  I have so many favorites but I narrowed it down to the colors I've been wearing the most over the past 2 months.

What are you favorites? Do you love any of these?

Upcoming MAC Cremesheen + Pearl Collection

This collection will be available August 9, 2012 online and in stores.  But if this collection follows suit with the past few, it will release on the MAC website a few days to a week early.

This is a permanent line of 8 Lipsticks and 6 Cremesheen glasses, which have pearlized pigments added to them.

Lipsticks $15.00

  • Pink Pearl Pop - Frosted Mid-Tone Pink
  • Sunny Seoul - Frosted Cool Nude
  • Peach Blossom - Frosted Light Warm Pink
  • Pure Zen - Frosted Warm Nude
  • Shanghai Spice - Frosted Neutral Pink
  • Japanese Maple - Frosted Neutral Pink
  • Coral Bliss - Frosted Light Coral
  • Saigon Summer - Frosted Bright Orange

Cremesheen Glass $19.50

  • Imperial Light - Frosted Light Peach
  • Dynasty at Dusk - Frosted Neutral Pink
  • Double Happiness - Frosted Soft Rose
  • Paper Lantern - Frosted Soft Warm Pink

Frosty colors are not for everyone, but if you're a fan this is definitely worth checking out.  I could see the glosses being worn over a similar color lipstick or on their own for a simple understated everyday look. .

Will you be checking out this collection?  What is your favorite lipstick and gloss finish?

ZOYA'S Arizona Nail of the Week

This color would probably look better on me if I had more of a tan.  But I still love it.  I'm actually looking forward to wearing it during college football season as I am from Tennessee and a huge Tennessee Vols fan! This is definitely going to be my game day polish.

I just recently made my first Zoya purchase and this was one of the colors I received with my order.  You can click HERE to see my previous post.  I apologize for my sloppy application, babies make it hard to take your time. =)

Inside

Direct Sunlight

I tend to use thin coats when polishing my nails so I did have to use 3 coats to make it completely opaque.  But had I used a heavier hand I could have done it in 2.  The polish application was flawless in my opinion and dried very fast.  It has a very shiny finish, which I love!

I totally recommend Zoya if you've never tried the brand before.  If you use the link and create a new account Zoya will automatically put a coupon for a free polish under your promo codes in your account.

Have you worn Orange polish this summer?

July Birchbox First Impression

Better Late Than Never.....

My favorite product from this month's box is the Stila lipgloss.  I am currently obsessed with lip products and this couldn't make me happier! I have used the boscia Oil Blotting Sheets before and you can never have enough of them. The hair mask smells great but I haven't used it yet.  The mints are mints and the perfume smells nice but at the price point I don't think it's worth purchasing.

To get your monthly box of goodies subscribe to Birchbox

Did you get something different in you Birchbox this month?

My First ZOYA Polish Purchase

I'm a ZOYA convert!

This was my first purchase from ZOYA.  I had heard about the brand  a while back but never got around to making a purchase because I have such easy access to OPI and ESSIE.  I knew I wanted to try it because it  is non-toxic and formaldehyde free, and I was finally presented with a tempting opportunity.

Last week I ordered the BEACH set after getting a code for 50% off.  I am so impressed with the colors and the quality! They are so creamy and smooth.  They were all very opaque.  WEDNESDAY (light aqua) and LARA (bright pink, second from left) are my favorite of the six.  REAGAN is the darkest color of the six (first from left).  This was the only one that did not say summer to me, but I'm still loving it.

If you've never tried ZOYA and you're interested, click HERE to create an account and ZOYA will put a coupon code for a FREE POLISH in your account under promotion codes.  Who doesn't like a FREE nail polish!  They also throw in free gifts with purchases over $30, $50, and $100!

I will definitely be ordering from ZOYA again.  I'm excited to pick up some of their new fall polishes, and they have a polish called KRISTEN that I will for sure be ordering as my free polish.

Are any of you a ZOYA newbie too or are you already a die hard fan?

All Time Favorite Blushes

High End , Mid End, and Drugstore Picks

Today's post in on my favorite all time blushes.  I picked my favorites from high end, mid end, and a low end or drug store brand.  These are my favorite because they work for me all year round.  They look great on my skin no matter what time of year it is.  I have been wearing Rose Petal and Blushbaby for years but Pinched is a new discovery for me.  If I could only have one blush it would definitively be one of these three.

I have linked the websites below in case you want to check them out for yourself.

Heavy Swatches
L to R: Chanel Rose Petal, MAC Blushbaby, NYX Pinched

Blended Swatches
L to R: Chanel Rose Petal, MAC Blushbaby, NYX Pinched

As you can see in the swatches they are similar yet different.  Chanel's Rose Petal and NYX Pinched are a similar shade with the expection of the gold flecks in Rose Petal, and MAC Blushbaby is more of a rose brown.

Do you have favorites from all different price points?  What are your favorite blush colors?

L'OREAL Power Volume Collagen Mascara

I purchased the waterproof version of this new L'oreal mascara.  I am pretty funny about mascara and usually tend to stick with one when I find one I really like.  I actually sniff the mascara and can usually tell whether or not I'm going to like it just by the smell.  Weird, I know! =)

This mascara did leave my lashes looking fuller and didn't leave them completely stiff.  After 9 hours of wear, I had no flaking.  I was able to build my lashes up without having to redip the wand, so I was using less product than usual.

If you like very defined lashes, then this probably won't be your favorite mascara but if you like full BIG lashes give this one a try.

NOTW: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink

Overall I think this color is very pretty and looks exactly as it is named, like bubblegum.

The formula was a little thick, but I have found that to be the case with all of the Xtreme Wear polishes that I have tried.  It did apply a bit streaky but settled while it was drying.

Bubblegum Pink 2 coats applied

In my opinion this polish is good quality for it's value price of under $3.  I want to try this color as a base to a pastel caviar manicure.

Have you tried this color?  What is your favorite pink nail polish?

LANCOME ROUGE IN LOVE Lipcolor in JOLIS MATINS106M

Company Description:  High potency lipcolor, 6 hour wear, featherlight formula

Price:  Rouge in Love contains 0.12oz (3.4g) of product and retails for $25.00

Quality:  Lancome describes JOLIS MATINS as a soft peach, which I think is dead on.  The color is creamy and very opaque with a slightly glossy finish.

This lipstick is light weight and not sticky.  It went on like a dream and was very moisturizing.

Packaging:  This lipstick comes in a gorgeous silver metal tube that is smaller than a regular tube of lipstick.

Wear:  I did not find this lipstick to wear 6 hours.  I got close to 3 hours of wear before the color began to fade.

Gorgeous and Compact Packaging

LANCOME ROUGE IN LOVE JOLIS MATINS

Skin Swatch

JOLIS MATINS Applied

Final thoughts:  I liked the moisturizing, almost balm like quality of this lipstick. I loved the soft peach color and think it's perfect for everyday wear.  This was a gift from my mother in law, but I would purchase this formula in another color.

Have you tried any of the LANCOME ROUGE IN LOVE Lipsticks?

Do You Wear Eye Liner On Your Bottom Lash Line?

That may sound like a silly question, but the truth is a lot of people don't.  I am one of those people.   I feel that with the shape of my eyes, they close up and disappear if I wear eye liner on the bottom.    It is rare for me to line my lower lash line, and when I do I use a creamy brown paired with lighter makeup on the lid.

For me, I can not combine a heavy eye shadow look with liner on the bottom.  My eyes look so tiny, so I just prefer to go with out it. But I do compensate for special occasions by wearing a little eye shadow on the bottom instead.

Do you wear liner on the bottom? Do you wear it every day or only on special occasions?  I would love to know!

REVLON Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in SMITTEN

My latest REVLON Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain purchase.  I just love these things.  I was hesitant to buy this color at first because I thought it would be too dark.  This color is a lot lighter on the lips than it appears in the stick.

SMITTEN is a light berry color and in my opinion this color is perfect to wear all year round.

I hope this swatch helps  you decide on your purchase.

Have you tried this color or another color from the REVLON Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains?

My Other Blog For Mommas!

I started another blog on my life as a momma.  I have two sons, a 3 and 1/2 year old and a 3 week old.  I am looking to connect with other moms and share how we manage our lives, our growing families, and personal passions.

Since I did just have a baby, I am currently going to be posting about my exercise routine and diet to get my pre-baby body back.  I only have 6 pounds left to loose but my body is no longer in great shape.  I have to admit, I got lazy at the end of my pregnancy and some areas started falling south. =)

If you're interested please check out my other blog My Life as a Modern Momma

I look forward to connecting with you!

Happy 4th of July!! MAC's Brave Red Lipstick!

4th of July is one of my favorite holidays!  It's a great summer holiday to enjoy your family, friends, and great food and drinks!  Since I just had a baby, we decided to spend the day at home, cook out, and relax.

Today, I am appropriately wearing MAC's Brave Red Lipstick.  This is one of my must have red lipsticks.  It is a slightly muted red with a cremesheen finish.

On a personal note, this picture was taken on July 4, 2009.  My husband had just returned from his deployment.  Here he is, getting his first snuggle from our son who had grown 7 months since he had last held him.  As my husband is scheduled to deploy again and our second son is 3 weeks old today, I am sure to have another photo like this around Memorial Day 2013.

I would just like to take the time to thank all the men and women who have dedicated a day, a year, their career, or their life to keeping us save in the land of the free.

How are you celebrating today?

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.  Please be responsible and stay safe!

Stay Beautiful!!

What Is In Your Travel Makeup Bag?

It's that time of year again, when everyone is going on vacation.  I generally tend to over pack, especially when it comes to my makeup and beauty items.  I really don't need to take 3 different colorless lip balms and yet I end up packing them anyway.

So,  "What is in your travel makeup bag"? How much makeup do you travel with? Do you pack for one day and one night look or do you go all out and make sure you have an unlimited amount of color combos? Do you bring several shades of one type of product, like 4 blushes or 5 lipsticks?

I always bring to much.  Here is what I will be taking with me on my next trip this August, and I have found that these products are usually all I will need.

  • a good eye shadow palette (Urban Decay Naked 2)
  • 1 cream eye shadow (Maybelline color tattoo in Bad to the Bronze)
  • 2 or 3 blushes (MAC Blushbaby, Immortal Flower, and Launch Away)
  • 1 bronzer (Too Faced Sun Bunny)
  • 1 highlighter (the balm's Mary Luo Manizer)
  • concealer (Smashbox High Definition Liquid Concealer)
  • powder foundation (Smashbox Halo)
  • eye shadow primer (my favorite is Benefit's Stay Don't Stray)
  • black liquid liner (Revlon liquid liner pen)
  • Waterproof Mascara (Currently using Maybelline Falsies)
  • 1 brown and 1 black pencil liner (I use Chanel pencil eyeliner)
  • Too Faced Perfect Lips Universal Lip Pencil
  • several lip color options, ( 2 lipsticks and 2 glosses)
I always take too many lip colors, but that is what I'm most into right now.  I have to have MAC's Angel and Impassioned and I am currently loving Moxie gloss in Rock Star.  I take the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains everywhere I go.

I packed a very similar list (some lip and cheek colors were different) for my trip to Rome in March, and I found that this was enough product to give me both day and night looks while not over packing.

What's in your travel makeup bag? What products do you take to much of?

REVLON Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in HONEY

Another one of the from my growing collection of REVLON Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.  I only have 5 but it probably seems like more, since I have featured others in previous posts.  Honey is a really light mauve color that is basically a "my lips but better" color.

I have showed this in my current favorite lip combo post HERE.
