MAC Hey Sailor Haul Photos and Swatches

My MAC Hey Sailor! Haul!

I was really excited about the launch of this collection.  I am in love with the colors and the nautical theme.  I am not usually extremely drawn to packaging but this collection got me from the start.  The navy stripes were entirely too cute and had me in the mood to go sailing the second I spotted them.

I most anticipated the eye shadow in Jaunty and the re-promote of the lipglass in Orange Tempera.  However, when I received my order, I fell in love with the two items I ordered that were completely out of my neutral comfort zone, Feeling Fresh eye shadow and Red Racer lipstick.

I will be doing another post on how I have been wearing this new collection soon!

Here is my haul!
Packaging! So cute!

Red Racer Lipstick is even more beautiful than I imagined.  I have struggled to find reds that look good on my warm skin tone but this yellow based red is PERFECT!

Launch Away Blush was described as a true peach but I found it to be slightly more pink that I expected.  Still it is a gorgeous peachy pink that blended out beautifully.

Barefoot Eye Shadow is the perfect gold for summer.  It is more yellow than the other golds in my collection and is quickly becoming my new favorite.

Jaunty Eye Shadow is a light champagne color, while it goes on very light, it is the perfect color for a highlight or an all over light wash of color.

Feeling Fresh Eye Shadow is not quite a Kelly Green, as I read it was described.  It is bright and very fun to wear.  It is a little chalky and I had some crumble in the pan, but it is unlike any color in my collection and I look forward to wearing it throughout the summer.

Orange Tempera Lipglass (not shown) is a light peach.  Worn alone, it did not provide much color and almost washed me out, but paired with a  peach lipliner ( I used MAC's Summer Fruit) it was perfect.

Thanks for reading!!

How Do You Change Your Makeup and Beauty Routine for Summer?

When summer comes, it seems we all wear a little less.  We exchange our boots for flip flops, our jeans for shorts and minis, and our sweaters for tank tops.  But how does the warmer weather change your makeup and beauty routine??

I wear sunblock all year round, so when summer comes I start self tanning my face a little more than usual.  I generally switch from a foundation to a tinted moisturizer with a light dusting of translucent powder.  My blush
goes brighter and my eye shadow leans more towards shimmery golds and bronzes with bright pops of color.  My current favorite colors for eye shadows are teal, green, and orange.  I tend to stop wearing lipsticks, and I go for lip stains with balm or bright lip glosses.  I'm currently loving MAC's Impassioned (LE) Lipglass and Revlon's new Kissable Balm Stain in Valentine.

I love wearing my hair up any time of year, but when summer comes, I love rockin' a high pony tail, a high messy bun, and tousled beachy waves.  I use a dry shampoo at least every other day, because I love the texture I get with second day hair for my summer do's.

I like grey based polishes when it comes to my nails, but when summer comes around I turn up the volume with bright pinks, corals, and neon polishes.  I even wear blues and purples which I rarely choose throughout the year.  My favorite summer polish is Essie's Lapiz of Luxury, but I have fallen in love with so many more already this season!!

That's how I switch up my beauty routine for summer.  How do you switch up yours??

Sally Hansen Swatch and Review in Mint Sorbet

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Mint Sorbet 340

2 coats applied of Mint Sorbet.

When I saw this at Target, I had to have it. This is such a pretty color for Spring and Summer.  I have used other Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polish before and I have always been satisfied with the product.  However, with this polish I had a different experience.

This particular shade had a very thick formula and applied extremely streaky.  It was very opaque but I still needed to apply 2 coats due to the streaking.  Even after the 2nd coat, I could still see streaks.

Despite the fact that it cost under $3.00, I can not recommend this product in this shade.

New Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

Thank you Revlon!!!

As I was on my way to Dillards to pick up some of Clinque's new chubby balm sticks, I decided to stop at rite aid and I'm so glad I did.  Tarte is known for it's LipSurgence line, and rightfully so because they are amazing but a bit pricey at $24 a piece.  Clinque released their version called Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, priced at $16 a piece.  I thought I was getting a major deal on a similar product as I was headed to the Clinque counter, that was until I spotted these new babies from Revlon.

Revlon's Just bitten Kissable Balm Stains

These are available in 12 different shades and are twist up's, no sharpening required. I found these to be very creamy in application and they felt moisturizing on my lips.  I purchased the 3 shades I thought would be perfect for my skin tone and they are lovely but at only $8 and change I can go back to pick up some other shades and experiment with color!  So much fun for summer!!

After about an hour or so of wear, the glossly finish begins to wear away but the stain is left behind.  Reapplication is a breeze with these chubby sticks, but you could even just use your favorite gloss or balm if you did not want to add more color.

I highly recommend picking some of these up!  I have seen them in Rite-Aid, Walmart, and Target so far.

Swatch Colors Left to Right:  050 Precious, 001 Honey, 025 Sweetheart

Tres Cheek!

I am a little behind with posting this but I did want to share my two favorites from the MAC Tres Cheek collection.  Everyone went crazy of Modern Mandarin but these two shades were better suited for my skin tone.

Immortal Flower is a gorgeous light corally peach, while Lovecloud is a beautiful light true pink.  Both shades are powder blushes with a satin finish and appear light when applied to skin but the color is buildable.

Lovecloud (Satin)

This picture was taken in natural lighting.  Immortal Flower (left), Lovecloud (right).

Immortal Flower is sold out on the MAC website, but both shades are still currently available on the Nordstrom's website.  As are all of the other shades from the Tres Cheek Collection. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mac-tres-cheek-powder-blush/3311511origin=leftnav

MAC Lips and Tips Collection!

These are my picks from the collection.

From top to bottom:  MAC Lipglass in Impassioned, Angel, Spice, and Spice Lipstick

MAC Lip Glass and Lipstick in Spice.

These colors are so beautiful! They all have MAC's signature vanilla scent, and even though they are totally different colors from each other they are all equally stunning.

Impassioned (Limited Edition) is the perfect pop of coral for summer.  While I do consider it to be a coral, it is red based.  I think it is the perfect combination of the two colors.

Angel (Limited Edition) is a soft midtoned pink with some added sheen.  It looks very creamy on the lip, and is almost milky.  It is perfect for any time of year.

Spice (Both are Limited Edition) is a neutral rose brown that looks stunning on the lips.  The swatch does not do the color justice.

Spice is my all time favorite lip liner and I could not be happier that I know have it in a lipglass and lipstick.  I am eager to try Angel in the lipstick, and try a layered look.  I love all of these and I will be ordering back ups of each!
